Strong storms have knocked out power to tens of thousands of homes and businesses in New Jersey on Monday.
Forecasters have been calling for damaging winds, 1 to 3 inches of rain and a small chance of an isolated tornado with flash flood watches and heat advisories in effect for much of New Jersey.
The National Weather Service predicted possible severe weather for nearly all of New Jersey into the evening thanks to a hot and humid air mass that made it feel like 100 or more across a large swath of the Garden State.
Early this afternoon, the weather service issued a flood advisory for northwestern Burlington and northwestern Camden counties until 5 p.m.
Interstate 295 between mile markers 48 and 57 and the New Jersey Turnpike between exits 6 and 7A were at risk for flooding.
Tens of thousands of customers lost power during Tropical Storm Elsa last week.
