An injunction against a labor union’s strike activities outside a Northern California hospital was justified but overly broad, a state appeals court decided.
A strike undertaken by the International Union of Operating Engineers in February outside the Marin General Hospital violated state and local law, the hospital told a court, and interfered with patients’ ability to rest as well as communication between medical professionals.
The union rang metal gongs and delayed traffic at emergency room entrances starting between 4-6 a.m. throughout the strike, the hospital said.
