The nurses at Amita Health Saint Joseph Medical Center Joliet have been working without a contract since May 9 and have been in contract negotiations since February, said Pat Meade, a longtime nurse at the hospital and a member of the Saint Joseph Nurses Association, which is part of the Illinois Nurses Association. The nurses have not yet set a strike date, and plan to continue negotiations in hopes of averting one, she said.
