With the start of the Major League Baseball season postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, we here at The Denver Post took a look at how the Rockies would fare in MLB The Show 20 on PlayStation 4. We will have a story for every game that had been scheduled until real-life baseball returns. Here’s a look at the virtual Rockies’ preseason preview. Entering Monday’s game, the Rockies were 35-16.

The Rockies stormed to a quick start, but blew it in the ninth inning, losing to the Dodgers, 5-4, Monday at Coors Field.

Up 4-3 in the ninth, Colorado closer Scott Oberg (1-1) was on the mound. Los Angeles’ Enrique Hernandez got aboard after a rare throwing error by Nolan Arenado. Then Chris Taylor belted a two-run home run to give the Dodgers the lead and eventual win.

Rockies starter Jon Gray had a solid albeit brief outing, giving up just two runs on five hits in five innings of work.

Colorado got on board early after Arenado hit a two-run homer, driving in Charlie Blackmon in the first inning. Shortstop Trevor Story added another solo shot to give the Rockies an early 3-0 lead.

In the third inning, Blackmon scored on a Story grounder to make it 4-0.

The Rockies (35-17) are five games ahead of the Dodgers (30-22) for the National League West lead. The two teams will meet again on Tuesday. Antonio Senzatela (4-0) will match up against Los Angeles’ Julio Urias (2-1). The live stream will begin at 11 a.m. MT.
