The Colorado Avalanche, already missing several key players, received more bad news Friday, when they announced that forward Valeri Nichushkin is week to week with an upper-body injury.
Nichushkin joins captain Gabriel Landeskog, who was suspended Thursday for two games for boarding, and forward Nathan MacKinnon, who missed the Avalanche’s season opener after testing positive for COVID-19, on the sideline. MacKinnon is fully vaccinated and could return against the St. Louis Blues.
Nichushkin was on the Avalanche’s second line with J.T. Compher and Andre Burakovsky in the opener.
