(Heart of Illinois ABC) -- Three LaSalle County fire departments are part of a 68 member Fire Engine Strike Team deployed to Louisiana Tuesday, September 7.
Those departments are the Marseilles Fire Protection District, Oglesby Fire Department and Wallace Fire Protection District.
A release from the state said the first responders are from the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) IL-Task Force 1 and come from fire departments throughout the state.
The team will be deployed to the affected area for 17 days and will offer support and assistance to Louisiana firefighters.
"Illinois first responders are well-trained for these types of rescues and will be a valuable resource for Louisiana communities," Governor JB Pritzker said.
160 members of the Illinois Army National Guard will also mobilize in the coming days at the request of the Louisiana National Guard to provide manpower and equipment to assist with commodities distribution, general search and rescue, storm debris removal and route clearance, and general security and curfew enforcement.
A previously deployed 46-member Search and Rescue Team returned from Louisiana.
