SAN FRANCISCO — A Giants team that’s lost several key pieces over the last 10 days placed another regular on the injured list on Saturday.

After injuring his hamstring while running out a groundball in the 11th inning on Friday, left fielder Alex Dickerson was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.

With Dickerson sidelined, the Giants recalled utility man Mauricio Dubón from Triple-A Sacramento only a day after optioning Dubón to the minors. Giants manager Gabe Kapler will make the most of having Dubón available as he’ll start at shortstop on Saturday against Dodgers left-hander Julio Urías.

Dubón played center field in the Giants’ 5-1 win over the Brewers on Thursday, but was sent back to Sacramento to make room for third baseman Evan Longoria, who returned from the injured list ahead of the club’s three-game set against the Dodgers.

Dickerson joins a large group of Giants on the injured list that also includes infielders Donovan Solano and Wilmer Flores and starters Johnny Cueto and Alex Wood. Both Solano and Wood are on the COVID-19 injured list after testing positive for the coronavirus while Flores is out with a left hamstring strain and Cueto is out of the rotation due to a right elbow strain.

Flores and Dickerson are two of only six Giants with at least 300 plate appearances this season.

Kapler said Solano, who tested positive for COVID-19 on August 26 in New York, has spent the last nine days quarantined in a New York hotel room, but the Giants have optimism he’ll be able to fly to San Francisco as soon as Sunday.

Solano is no longer experiencing chills and body aches, but has not regained his sense of taste or smell.

Kapler added that Wood, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, is still experiencing significant symptoms.
