The Binghamton Devils lost at home last night to the Northern Division Rivals Hershey Bears 3-2, at the RWJ Barnabas Health Hockey House in Newark.
Binghamton Devils Goaltender Jeremy Brodeur made his AHL debut last night with 47 saves in a close game against the Bears.
Hershey struck first on a goal from Hershey’s Matt Moulson 11:42 into the match, but the Devils would bounce back on a Travis St. Denis power play goal, off a rebound from a try by Matt Tennyson to even the score 1-1.
Hershey pulled a head with less than two minutes left in period one, as Shane Gersich scored to put the Bears up 2-1 going into the first intermission.
Period two was a defensive battle on both sides, until a little over a minute left in period two, Joe Snively scored off a loose puck in front of the net, putting Hershey up by two goals (3-1) at the end of two.
Binghamton staged a comeback as Brett Seney pulled the Devils to within one, scoring his third goal of the season, but Binghamton was unable to score again and lost 3-2.
On a side note the Binghamton Devils General Manager Dan MacKinnon announced yesterday that the Devils have signed goaltender Mareks Mitens to an amateur tryout, the 23 year old just finished his senior season with the Lakers team, that just had their first WCHA Championship.
Mitens reported to Newark to begin his quarantine process.
The Binghamton Devils will take on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the Mohegan Sun Arena this Saturday April 10th at 7pm.
