LSU football could be in danger of losing a key 2022 commit, according to Rivals national recruiting director Adam Gorney.
Gorney reported on Thursday that Alabama is becoming a major factor for four-star wide receiver Aaron Anderson.
“We’re not ready to put him on flip watch just yet but the rumor is that Alabama is making a serious push for Anderson and he’s at least listening to the interest,” wrote Gorney.
Anderson, 5-foot-10/180 lbs from New Orleans, LA, committed to LSU in December. He’s rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 24 wide receiver in the country and the No. 11 overall player in Louisiana.
Is there a legitimate chance that LSU football could lose Anderson to Alabama?
It seems unlikely that Alabama will be able to steal Anderson from the Tigers.
But it’s still concerning that Anderson is interested in what Alabama has to say. While it’s rare for LSU to miss on elite in-state recruits, Alabama is the one program that’s a legitimate threat to disrupt the Tigers’ in-state recruiting success.
Anderson committed to LSU in December just after receiving an offer from Ed Orgeron and the Tigers.
After his commitment, Anderson spoke to Rivals about the decision and made it clear that LSU is where he’s always wanted to be.
“They (LSU) were looking at me for a while, texting me and stuff, but they just offered me this morning,” said Anderson after his commitment.
“I was excited and LSU my dream school,” added Anderson. “I have just been waiting on them to offer me.”
It’s hard to imagine Anderson turning his back on the Tigers after he patiently waited for the program to offer.
But anything is possible when it comes to Nick Saban and Alabama. That’s the reason I don’t think we can fully rule out Alabama as a legitimate threat in this recruiting battle.
