Friday was a somber day for Rutgers fans. After losing wide receivers coach, and ex-Rutgers star Tiquan Underwood to Pitt on Jan. 30, Rutgers lost another key staff member in defensive backs coach Fran Brown, who will coach the same position on Kirby Smart’s staff in Athens.
Sure, the latest batch of players Brown has recruited have already signed with Rutgers, but in the age of the transfer portal, that doesn’t mean much. Not when players can simply up and leave by alerting their school’s compliance department.
