BROOKINGS – 21st-ranked Creighton outlasted 23rd-ranked South Dakota State Monday 78-69 in the women’s basketball opener for both teams at Frost Arena.
Lauren Jensen led Creighton with 30 points, hitting four three-pointers.
Summit League Preseason Player of the Year Myah Selland scored 22 for the Jackrabbits with four assists. Brooklyn Meyer scored 12 points off the bench. Haleigh Timmer and Ellie Colbeck each scored 10.
AKRON, OH – After leading by as many as eight points in the first half, South Dakota State men’s basketball lost the season opener to Akron Monday 81-80 at Rhoades Arena.
Greg Tribble hit the winning free throw for the Zips with two seconds remaining. Xavier Casteneda scored 31 points for Akron.
Matt Dentlinger led the Jacks with 15 points.
