Thousands of SMUD customers lose power in Sacramento County
HERE AT SIX. I’M ANDREA FLORES AND I’M BRITTANY. HOPE WE ARE TRACKING RAIN WIND AND SNOW MOVING ACROSS OUR REGION. LET’S TAKE YOU LIVE OUTSIDE. THESE ARE LIVE LOOKS OVER SACRAMENTO ON THE TOP LEFT YOU HAVE STOCKTON FAIRFIELD AND RANCHO CORDOVA ON THE BOTTOM RIGHT YOU CAN SEE THERE ARE SOME WATER DROPLETS ON THE CAMERA IN FAIRFIELD. SO THAT SYSTEM IS DEFINITELY MOVING IN TOWARD THE VALLEY. TONIGHT IS A KCRA 3 WEATHER IMPACT NIGHT RIGHT IN THE CENTER OF OUR RADAR IS TRACKING THE LATEST SYSTEM THAT IS ROLLING IN, AND IT IS BUSY AND METEOROLOGIST DIRK DIRK VERDOORN HAS BEEN TRACKING IT ALL DAY LONG. SO DIRK, WHERE’S THE STORM RIGHT NOW? YEAH, WELL, WE HAD A PRETTY NICE DAY TODAY AND IT WAS A VERY, VERY, UH, KIND OF MISLEADING BECAUSE WE HAD THE SUN, TEMPERATURES WARMED UP. WE HAD DAYTIME HIGHS THAT PUSHED INTO THE MID TO UPPER 60S TODAY. AND NOW WHERE THE WINDS ARE PICKING UP, THE RAIN IS PICKING UP. AND YES, WE ARE GOING TO NOTICE SOME SNOW. BUT THAT’S NOT THE HEADLINE TONIGHT. IT’S REALLY GOING TO BE THE WIND AND THE RAIN. SO HERE’S RADAR AND YOU CAN SEE WE HAVE SOME RAIN WORKING ITS WAY FROM THE SOUTHWEST OFF TO THE NORTH NORTHEAST. YOU CAN SEE SOME HEAVIER RAIN, ESPECIALLY AS YOU MAKE YOUR WAY INTO THE CENTER AND NORTHERN PORTION OF THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY. YOU CAN SEE A LINE OF RAIN RIGHT IN HERE, AND IF YOU GET CAUGHT. UNDERNEATH THAT LINE OF RAIN FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME, THAT’S WHERE YOU COULD RUN INTO SOME PROBLEMS FROM FLOODING PROBLEMS. THAT’S GOING TO BE AN ISSUE IN SOME LOCATIONS AS WE GO THROUGH THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS, WE’RE GOING TO BE WATCHING THIS RAIN COMING DOWN HEAVY AT TIMES. CHICO WE’VE BEEN SEEING SOME HEAVIER RAIN. WE’VE BEEN SEEING THAT ALSO IN RED BLUFF AND MOVING ON TOWARDS REDDING ELSEWHERE AND THROUGH PLUMAS COUNTY. THE RAIN HAS BEEN MOSTLY LIGHT TO MODERATE AND IT’S BEEN SHOWERY BECAUSE YOU’RE ON THE KIND OF THE LEADING EDGE WE’VE HAD SOME HEAVIER RAIN AROUND YUBA CITY AND MARYSVILLE COLUSA HAS BEEN GETTING HIT PRETTY GOOD, AND THERE’S MORE ON THE WAY. WILLIAMS, ARBUCKLE GETTING SOME OF THAT HEAVIER RAIN AND STRETCHING A LITTLE BIT FARTHER SOUTH NEAR WINTERS. WE’RE SEEING SOME GOOD SHOWERS AND SHOWERS ALSO POPPING UP NEAR VACAVILLE AS WELL AS FAIRFIELD OAKLEY, BRENTWOOD, SEEING SOME SHOWERS. WE’VE HAD SOME RAIN MOVE THROUGH STOCKTON AND MODESTO. RIGHT NOW YOU’RE KIND OF IN BETWEEN THINGS, BUT AGAIN, WITH THOSE SHOWERS TURN HEAVY AND LAST FOR A PERIOD OF TIME, WE’RE LOOKING AT ANYWHERE FROM 1 TO 3IN OF RAIN TOTAL OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS. THAT COULD BRING SOME POSSIBLE FLOODING IN AREAS. WE’RE NOT LOOKING AT ANY EXTENSIVE FLOODING, BUT WE COULD SEE SOME LOCALIZED FLOODING. ANOTHER ISSUE WE’RE GOING TO BE WATCHING, ESPECIALLY AS WE HEAD INTO MONDAY AFTERNOON. THE CHANCE FOR SOME THUNDERSTORMS, AND WE COULD SEE SOME PRETTY STRONG THUNDERSTORMS, ESPECIALLY RIGHT DOWN THE CENTER OF THE VALLEY WITH LIGHTNING, STRONG GUSTY WINDS, AND HAIL ASSOCIATED WITH THOSE. WE’LL HAVE MORE ON THAT COMING UP, AS WELL AS OUR SNOW AND SNOW LEVELS COMING UP. NOW BACK OVER TO YOU, DIRK. THANK YOU. A LOT OF INFO THERE.
