Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan were competitors in the NBA and that was highlighted during Episode 6 of "The Last Dance," which covered the 1993 NBA Finals between the Bulls and the Phoenix Suns, but they still remain friends.
Barkley was the 1993 NBA MVP, but Jordan's Bulls beat the Suns in six games to win the title. Barkley still has to live with that loss to this day, and not just because it was his only appearance in the NBA Finals.
Barkley talked about the pain of being friends with someone as competitive as Jordan on SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt on Sunday night.
"It was difficult because if you lose to him, No. 1, you're never going to hear the end of it," Barkley said. "Listen, there's no other person, as great as he was, in my life that I wanted to beat more in basketball because when you lose to him you gotta hear about it everyday for the rest of your life."

Barkley was one of the best players of that era and is a hall of famer, but he doesn't have a championship ring. It can't feel good to be reminded of that on a consistent basis by Jordan.
While Jordan talking trash to Barkley isn't the same as holding a grudge, Jordan is famous for grudges. Barkley said Jordan's ability to hold onto grudges is part of what made him so great.
"I think that's what made him the GOAT," Barkley said. "He takes everything personally."
