Bobby Dalbec, who hit five home runs against the Twins in warm weather of spring training, doubled twice at frigid Target Field on Tuesday to lift the Red Sox to a 4-2 victory.

The Twins left 10 on base. Their first two batters scored, and they were shut down the rest of the way by five Boston pitchers.

Christian Arroyo and Dalbec hit back-to-back doubles off Twins reliever Randy Dobnak in the eighth inning to snap a 2-2 tie, and Rafael Devers added a home run in the ninth for the Red Sox. Devers has homered in four consecutive games.

Boston has won seven in a row after losing its first three.

The Twins, who fell to 5-5 with their third consecutive loss, loaded the bases in the first inning as flurries fell in front of 6,724 fans. Byron Buxton led off with a broken-bat double off former teammate Martin Perez. Kyle Garlick, hit by a pitch, and Mitch Garver walked before Jorge Polanco's sacrifice fly scored Buxton. Miguel Sano walked to reload, and Luis Arraez grounded into a force out to score Garlick.

Boston leveled the score at the top of the fifth inning on Hunter Renfroe's first homer of the season, a 416-footer to center field that Buxton couldn't quite rise to meet, and Dalbec's RBI double that knocked Twins starter J.A. Happ from the game.

Adam Ottavino got the victory in relief.

Designated hitter Nelson Cruz missed the game with a non-COVID illness.

The Twins and Red Sox will play a doubleheader Wednesday, with both games seven innings, after Monday's game was postponed in the wake of the Daunte Wright shooting.

Kenta Maeda and Jose Berrios will start for the Twins.
