FLINT – Fans arrived for the very first home game for the Flint United as they faced off against the Indy Express Friday night. Around 200 people gathered to witness the team’s first home game.
The United competes in the TBL or The Basketball League, a minor professional basketball league founded in 2017. It was announced that Flint was to be awarded a franchise in September of 2020 with 2021 being their first season.
Flint was unable to secure a win, falling 78-79.
The United were lead by small forward Jaire Grayer who finished the game with 16 points.
United head coach Charlie Bell noticed the support from the Flint community. “I wish there wasn’t any Covid because I think we’d have a lot more people,” said Bell, “At the same time I’m happy with the guys we did have here.”
The United return to the Dort Finacial Center tomorrow against the Detroit Hustle at 7 p.m.
