PITTSBURGH – The Red Bulls II continued to endure problems as the team dropped a 2-1 decision at the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in a USL Championship game at Highmark Stadium Friday night.

New York fell to 2-6-2 while the hosts improved to 5-3-2.

Pittsburgh drew first blood in the 14th minute when midfielder Todd Wharton curled in a shot past goalkeeper Luca Lewis.

The visitors answered back in the 26th minute, when midfielder Daniel Edelman sent in a corner kick that was dropped by Riverhounds goalkeeper Daniel Vitiello that Jeremy Rafanello got a touch on. It went in off a Pittsburgh defender for an own goal.

The Riverhounds found the game-winner in the 41st minute when Albert Dikwa scored off a Russell Cicerone pass.

Red Bulls midfielder Nico Nee made his professional debut, coming on in the 84th minute.

Lewis made two saves.

NYRBII returns home to MSU Soccer Park, hosting Miami FC Friday, July 2 at 7 p.m.
