Islanders Meltdown in Boston Lose 6-3 - Eyes on Isles

I mean what a disaster. The Islanders and Bruins got the day started with a 12:30 puck drop and I think the Islanders were still asleep for this one. Woof.

In the first period, the Boston bruins got on the board early as Craig Smith got the Bruins on the board. A home ice bounce off the boards popped right out to him and he beat Semyon Varlamov early.

Later in the period, it appeared that Kyle Palmieri tied the game up at one. It was ruled a goal on the ice but after review, they pulled the goal off the board. What I don't understand is how there was enough evidence to change it. It was borderline but it felt like whatever they called on the ice should have remained the call.

Naturally, the Bruins went right back down and scored to make it a 2-0 game. The Islanders penalty kill without Scott Mayfield and Cal Clutterbuck looked pretty rough.

With just 12 seconds left in the period, the Isles got on the board from Brock Nelson's 30th of the season:

Congrats to Brock Nelson on scoring 30 goals for the first time in his career. That's about where good things ended.

In the second, Sebastian Aho did Sebastian Aho like things. The puck goes into the corner, he went to get it, gets manhandled, falls down, and next thing you know David Pastrnak puts it in the back of the net.

Get me Robin Salo, STAT!

Then just over a minute later, Brad Marchand netted his 28th of the year to give the Bruins a three goal lead. The Isles would go to the power play and Noah Dobson was able to get one on net that ended up getting to Anders Lee who found the back of the net. He now has 11 goals in 11 games.

Erik Haula and Jake DeBrusk would add two more goals for the Bruins, making it a four goal period for Boston. After two, the Isles were down 6-2.

In the third period, the Islanders were just trying to get out of there. They registered one shot through the first 14 minutes of the period. The second, Zach Parise on the power play finds the back of the net for goal number 10.

That would do it. 6-3 final score, and it really wasn't that close. The Islanders absolutely melted down and outside of a good power play day, it was not pretty. The Islanders are back in action tomorrow afternoon against Tampa.

Adblock test (Why?)
