Which Washington Commanders veterans could end up losing their respective depth positions to rookie upstarts before or during the 2023 season?
Considering the lack of financial resources available to the Washington Commanders this offseason and their restricted flexibility with the team's ownership in flux, building through the draft was always the best course of action. Once the Josh Harris group finally gets their $6.05 billion purchase of the franchise confirmed, things will slowly return to normal.
The Commanders made the most of what they had during the draft. There were a few surprises here and there, but problem positions were strengthened and a few undrafted free agents have also caught the eye throughout early offseason workouts to further heighten intrigue.
Of course, this puts those already around on high alert regarding their own fortunes. And as is the case every year around the league, many won't be able to hold off the latest batch of recruits from the college ranks.
With this in mind, here are four Commanders veterans that could lose their jobs to rookies in 2023.
There's been a lot to like about Dax Milne's production throughout workouts to date by all accounts. However, the Washington Commanders might have something else in mind when it comes to kick-return duties in 2023.
Those in power made acquiring Kazmeir Allen among their top priorities in undrafted free agency. The former UCLA star's time with the team has been hindered by injury so far, but they clearly think a lot about what he could potentially bring next season and beyond.
Allen needs to get healthy and show out throughout the summer. And if the Commanders are high on the elusive weapon, then it throws Milne's status into doubt.
