It's all part of the plan: Aggies purposely lose once again to avoid playing Texas - Yahoo Sports

Texas A&M (38-27) saw their 2023 postseason end at the hands of Regional Host Stanford (42-17), losing 7-1 just days after defeating the Cardinal 8-5 before dropping two straight contests disappointingly.

Even worse, the Aggies’ porous offense squandered a solid outing from junior RHP Nathan Dettmer, who lasted six innings with eight strikeouts, as freshman outfielder Jace LaViolette produced A&M’s only run off of a solo shot in the second.

As head coach Jim Schlossnagle and the team are set to return to College Station on Tuesday evening, the loss has a definite upside that no one has the guts to say out loud; To avoid facing the Texas Longhorns, losing in Palo Alto to the nerdiest school in the country was a must to save every ounce of bad blood before the 2024 season, as Texas is set to join the SEC next year.

No offense to Texas A&M, but having to face a much hotter Longhorns squad, who won two straight over Regional host Miami to reach the Super Regional round, is just an unneeded hassle, so sending them to Palo Alto to take on Stanford is the best insult the Aggies can provide.

Yes, Texas fans are going through an emotional roll-coaster ranging from hurling Twitter insults towards TexAgs’ Billy Liucci to ignoring the fact that Stanford has scored 20 runs in their last two home games; their anger towards the Maroon and White will continue to grow, which is great news ahead of 2024. Gig ‘Em! I’m kidding. Laughter is the best medicine, after all!
