Equinor’s Johan Sverdrup offshore platform will have to close production until further notice if an ongoing labor strike continues into next week, the Norwegian supermajor said in a statement.
The strike has seen offshore workers’ union Lederne has removed 43 of its members from Johan Sverdrup so far, which has not yet impacted production. The recently-commissioned facility will produce 690,000 barrels of oil per day when it reaches full capacity in 2022.
Equinor says that if the strike is still underway during a crew change scheduled for October 14th, production will be shut in due to lack of personnel to execute key operational tasks.
