could lose his ranch if he doesn’t work again, according to the Frank Reagan actor.

The 79-year-old star has been behind New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan in ’ Blue Bloods for 14 years but it’s almost time to say goodbye to the show for good.

News of its cancellation came earlier this year with reports that it was axed due to financial reasons, leaving fans and its cast devastated.

Some of the show’s stars, including Tom, even offered to cut their own wages by 25 percent to keep Blue Bloods going but as of yet, there has been no word of a U-turn.

The former Magnum PI actor recently opened up on the series coming to an end with CBS Sunday Morning at his ranch in Ventura County, California.

It was with the stunning backdrop of his 63-acre ranch that Tom admitted he would need to carry on working in order to keep his beloved home.

“You know, hopefully I keep working enough to hold onto the place,” he told CBS correspondent Tracy Smith.

She questioned: “Seriously, that’s an issue? If you stopped working?”

“That’s always an issue,” he said. “If I stopped working, yeah. Am I set for life? Yeah, but maybe not on a 63-acre ranch!”

When he was asked about what he hopes for the future, Tom commented: “Hopefully, work. As an actor, you never lose – I don’t lose, anyway – that sense that every time I finish a job, it’s my last job.”

Tom bought the ranch, formerly owned by singer Dean Martin, in 1988 once Magnum PI came to an end.

It was also previously a working avocado farm before the drought destroyed its crop.

The Frank Reagan actor welcomed his daughter Hannah in the same year, after marrying his second wife Jillie Joan Mack in 1987.

He told Closer Weekly back in 2018: “I quit Magnum to have a family. It took me a long time to get off the train, but I try very hard to have balance, and this ranch has helped me do that.”

The penultimate episode before series 14's midseason finale is due to air this week on Friday, May 10, on CBS.

Entitled Two Of A Kind, the synopsis reads: “Danny gets involved when Sean becomes the latest victim in a series of robberies on Sean's college campus.

“Erin grows suspicious of an overworked attorney who she believes isn't acting in his client's best interest.”

Following the midseason finale, Blue Bloods won’t be returning until October with the last ever instalment expected to air sometime in December.

Blue Bloods is available to watch on CBS.
