MILWAUKEE — Saturday was another bad day all around for the Yankees.

Before batting practice, struggling pitcher Frankie Montas left the clubhouse to get an MRI because he’s dealing with some shoulder discomfort, which might explain the righty’s poor outing the night before.

Then in the early innings, first baseman Marwin Gonzalez departed after the first pitch of his first at-bat when he was hit in the hit on a catcher’s throw to the pitcher after he laid off a curveball that was called strike one.

The game was worse. Jameson Taillon was hit hard, the bats were quiet, Aaron Judge remained stuck on 57 homers and the Yankees lost 4-1 to the Milwaukee Brewers, who have taken the first two games of the weekend series.

Making the night worse, the Yankees lost ground in the AL East standings. They’re now up just 4 1/2 games on the second-place Toronto Blue Jays, who beat the Baltimore Orioles at home 6-3.

Brewers righty Brandon Woodruff was the big story of the night, as he held the Yankees to one run and five hits over eight innings while striking out 10 walking one and hitting a batter.

The Yankees’ only run came on a homer by Josh Donaldson, his second in two nights and 15th of the season.

Judge was 1-for-3 with a double, walk and strikeout going homerless for the third game in arow and eighth time in his last nine, the exception last Tuesday night in Boston when he hits No. 56 and 57.

The Brewers took the 3-0 lead in the fourth when Willy Adames belted a three-run homer off Taillon, who allowed four runs over four innings.

Donaldson’s homer to lead off the Yankees fourth made it a 3-1 game, but the Brewers got the run back in the fifth when No. 9 hitter Garret Mitchell singled and scored on a double by Christian Yelich.

Brewers closer Devin Williams worked a 1-2-3 ninth with two strikeouts for his 13th save.
