Jovan Buha, Lakers beat writer: Davis' potential absence is a series-altering blow for the Lakers. Los Angeles has a minus-3.6 net rating with Davis on the floor and has actually been 16.6 points per 100 possessions worse with Davis on the floor versus off. But that's a bit misleading given Davis has been off the floor for only 54 minutes.
Davis gives a struggling Lakers offense a go-to interior presence when James is off the floor, and a dangerous two-man option when James is on it. Defensively, he's protected the paint and switched onto guards and wings proficiently. He's a two-way force, even when he's physically compromised, and him missing any additional time puts Phoenix in the driver's seat of the series.
How did Chris Paul look?
Doug Haller, staff writer: The veteran point guard was an MVP candidate during the regular season. He wasn't on that level in Sunday's win, but he was as close as he's been this entire series. Paul, slowed with a right shoulder injury, didn't practice Saturday.
Before Game 4, he had a long talk with Williams about what he was capable of contributing. Paul convinced Williams he was ready. Then he put up 18 points and nine assists with no turnovers in 32 minutes. With Paul closer to 100 percent, this is a different series.
